Badlands Safety

Across the country, rising temperatures and rugged terrain create unforgiving field conditions. Many hunters and dogs head out unprepared, underestimating just how quickly situations can turn dangerous.

Essential Safety Checklist

  • Leave a Travel Plan: Always tell someone where you are heading, leave a written note, and specify your expected return time.

  • Carry Satellite Communication: Pack a personal locator beacon or satellite messenger (like a Garmin) to call for help when cell service fails.

  • Pack Adequate Provisions: Bring extra water, essential supplies, and first-aid provisions—what you carry into the field can save a life.
