“Keep It Simple”

  • Wonder / Command Lead –  don’t let your dog loose with this on!
  • 8′ Non static training rope used for early Control & Que training.
  • 20′ Non static training rope used for quartering and extending the success zone.
  • O-Ring collar with D-Ring properly fitted. Gun Dog Supply has a very nice leather collar. You want a no stretch collar.
  • Durable throw Bumper to begin early retrieve training.
  • Whistle for early que recognition.
  • Tie down stake. Important part of training, have one and use it!
  • E-Collar – I recommend Garmin products.
  • Training E-Collars we use – Garmin Pro 550 or the Pro 550+
  • *GPS unit – I recommend Garmin Alpha series –  Majority of hunters use the Garmin Alpha 200i or 300i. Sync’s up with other Alpha handhelds to help track dogs and handlers. You don’t need an E-collar or GPS to start but you should start budgeting.

A proper training rope is an instrumental tool for Bird Dog trainers and handlers. I make these ropes for clients or I can show you how to make them.

Tip: The ID plate on the collar can be used smartly to help ID and return a lost dog. Example of the information we add to our collars:

  • MICROCHIPPED – AZ
  • Needs Meds – Reward!
  • 602-xxx-xxxx
  • 928-xxx-xxxx

Advanced Training Equipment can get expensive, we are here to help explain most of the tools you will need and should consider.

  • Backing dog
  • Pigeon poles

  • Garmin Watch/App – Sync’s with the Garmin Tracker or GPS. Very helpful when hunting.
